History
Stasis Design, P.C., formerly Tobin & Associates, P.C., was founded in July of 1984, in Lander, Wyoming. In 1990, the firm’s office relocated to Cheyenne. Since that time, Stasis Deisgn, P.C. has grown into one of the largest and most diverse architectural firms in the State of Wyoming. Our Greeley, Colorado branch office has allowed us to expand our client base and accommodate our Colorado resident staff.
Over 30 years of diverse project experience gives Stasis Design, P.C. the ability to approach any project type with confidence. Additionally, the growth from two principals to a team of architects, designers, project managers, and construction administrators allows the firm to undertake projects that range from small renovations to multistory new construction.
Design Approach
Our approach to design is to create a simple, organized, and sophisticated design response to a complicated set of criteria.
PRE-DESIGN
The foundation of this process is working with the client to establish the project goals and vision within the necessary programmed parameters. Next, the site is critically analyzed to establish environmental factors including daylighting, winds, views, site drainage, pedestrian and vehicular access, surrounding vernacular and context, and indigenous plant and tree species. With all these elements identified, we begin the conceptual design process.
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN / DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
We begin with overall arrangements of spaces and building masses on the site and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of multiple options with the client. Once building location and arrangement are established, we work with the client and the end users to develop these ideas into a building design. This building design can now include the consideration of building materials, systems, and volumes all of which could be visualized in 3-dimension. This process repeats until a final design is accepted by the client.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS / ADMINISTRATION
Even though the project is conceptually defined, smaller design decisions will continue throughout the construction documentation and building process..
Sustainability
SUSTAINABILITY IS A STANDARD
There are many factors that contribute to sustainable building design including response to environmental conditions, quality of the interior environment, and durability and longevity. Good architectural design has always been rooted in these fundamental ideas. Designing with these principles, creates buildings that are energy efficient, comfortable, and site specific.
More recently, the USGBC introduced the LEED Rating System, which allows for a system of metrics to measure the extent to which buildings meet these sustainable principles.
It is Tobin & Associates’ standard practice to implement sustainable design into all of our projects. Additionally, if the client wishes to pursue LEED Certification, our team, with several LEED Accredited Professions on staff, will facilitate this process.
LEED® PROJECTS
Tobin & Associates, P.C. is currently working on several projects pursuing LEED Certification at various levels. The featured project, the Laramie County Library, achieved LEED Gold.
LEED® COMMISSIONING
In addition to the design and facilitation of LEED projects, Tobin & Associates can also provide the Core and Shell Commissioning. Recently completed commissioning services include the Wyoming National Guard Joint Forces Readiness Center (LEED Silver) and the Army Aviation Support Facility (LEED Gold).
Services
WHAT YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW ABOUT WHAT WE DO
Our typical services encompass the full process of building design and construction. We begin by working with the client to establish overall project goals and basic parameters. Once we have an established program for the project, we continue to work with the client on conceptual possibilities and visualization of these ideas. When the conceptual design is complete, the overall ideas and concepts are merged with building systems, at which time; they may be further developed into construction documentation.
Upon the completion of the construction documents, our work continues with the client in conjunction with the builder through occupancy.
WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT WHAT WE DO
In addition to our typical architectural services, our firm offers a variety of additional services to our clients.
Existing Building Assessments: Including facility studies, envelope analysis, etc. to help clients identify problems and potential solutions in existing facilities.
Envelope Commissioning: Including work on behalf of the client with other design teams and builders to ensure proper installation of building envelope components (One of the key elements in reducing a building’s energy consumption).
Building Information Modeling (BIM): BIM is the next generation of design documentation in which full projects are modeled in 3-dimension. This fundamental change in design documentation allows continuous visualization, systems coordination, energy modeling incorporation, and integrated materials identification.
FF&E Design / Implementation: Existing furniture inventory and assessment, space planning, Furniture Fixture, and Equipment (FF&E) selection and specification.
Project Marketing: Brochures, imagery, poster boards, conceptual designs, etc. as needed for presentations to secure project funding or move a project to the next design or construction phase.
Roof Consulting and Commissioning: Existing roof inspections, propose solutions to eliminate roof related issues, and ensure installation of specified roof assemblies and systems.
LEED® Facilitation: Project manage the LEED process from conceptual design through occupancy including LEED registration, documentation, and submittals.
